About the program

The youth advisory board program is a competitive program where a person 10-18 from every state/country is selected to be a ambassador of their country to TLEEM, discussing issues in the TLEEM field and working to solve a problem.

Program Timeline


  1. Applications open

    Early bird applications open where people can register ahead of time. 40% off: Use code IMPREPARED at checkout.

  2. Regular applications open

    The regular application opens.

  3. Applications close

    Applications close. Results are posted in July/August. Ambassadors begin office until the next calendar year.

Financial Aid

To ensure equal opportunities for applicants and address financial challenges, TLEEM is committed to fostering inclusivity by offering a Fee Waiver Policy to eligible participants.

  • Email youthadvisoryboard@tleem.org with the subject "Fee Waiver Request" and provide your full name and country, along with a brief explanation of financial hardship or special circumstances.
  • Attach documentation demonstrating eligibility in one of the following categories:
    • Enrollment in the federal free or reduced-price lunch program or annual family income aligning with USDA guidelines for reduced or free meals.
    • Unexpected medical bills or emergencies causing current financial hardship.
    • Enrollment in a federal, state, or local program aiding students from low-income families.
    • Eligibility for an SAT, ACT, or Common App fee waiver.
    • Family receiving public assistance.
    • Residing in federally subsidized public housing, foster home, or experiencing homelessness.
    • Ward of the state or an orphan.
    • Ability to provide a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader.
  • Upon approval of your fee waiver request, you'll receive a coupon code. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

How long will the program last and where will it be hosted?

The program will last for about one year and will be hosted virtually.

Why do I have to pay a application fee, and is there financial aid?

Application fees are used for advancing our mission. Programs like the youth advisory board are expensive to maintain and to also give financial aid opportunities. Please note that applying to the youth advisory board does not guarantee a spot in our program and that the program is highly competitive. can apply for financial aid by e-mailing youthadvisoryboard@tleem.org with documents supporting your current situation. What will be my "duties" as an ambassador of my state/country?

There are multiple things that you might do. For example, you'll be the voice of your state/country to discuss issues and problems of your state/country. Additionally, you might work with other ambassadors to collaborate on activities like surveys and working together to solve a problem in the TLEEM field.
